Both traditions believe their scriptures are revealed by God, not written by humans. The Vedas are called "Apaurusheya" (not of human origin) - they are considered "Shruti" (that which is heard), revealed to sages in deep meditation. The Quran is believed to be the literal word of Allah, revealed to Prophet Muhammad through Angel Gabriel over 23 years. The Quran states: "And it is not for a human [prophet] that Allah should speak to him except by revelation" (42:51).
